Chinese new Year dragon (2023)
ArtistIn Chinese culture dragon scales symbolize defense and divinity. In this work the dragon's scales are imagined as objects and experiences of the artist's childhood growing up with overcrowded wet markets. From cutesy soft toys, to teapots and to humorous rip offs of famous brands, these nostalgic memories of the artist's childhood helped form the protection and sanctitude of his culture
